Labatut is located on the right riverbank of the Gave de Pau. It is the main gateway of the Pays d'Orthe et Arrigans for visitors arriving from the Béarn region.

Its name comes from the latin word "bastuda" which means a place covered with thick forests.

The old centre of town around the church, away from the main road, is a nice place for visitors to stop.
