The small village of Gaâs, mainly a farming community, was awarded a 3-flower rating in the national flower competition for villages with less than 500 residents. It has maintained its lovely architectural heritage. Gaâs was the birthplace of many famous people such as Commander de Vaisseau, Commander of the Legion of Honour Pierre Forsans (1775-1874) and Jean Rameau (1858-1942), famous writer, storyteller and poet.
